Hylomar Medium Liquid Seal For Connections And Threads 80

Hylomar M Medium liquid seal for connections and threads, resistant to fuels, oils, and coolants

The Medium version is suitable for applications requiring tightness, resistance to operating media, and the ability to disassemble components without breaking the hard bond.

This solution is suitable for service, maintenance, workshops, and technical applications where a classic flat gasket requires additional sealing or the connection must remain removable. Hylomar M Medium operates in a wide temperature range from -50°C to +250°C and is resistant to oils, fuels, water/glycol mixtures, water, air, and combustion products from piston and turbine engines.

Applications of Hylomar M Medium 80 ml

Hylomar M Medium is intended for sealing contact surfaces and threaded elements. The manufacturer recommends applications including water and oil pumps, inspection covers, cylinder heads, oil pans, gear and transmission components, and machined surfaces.

The product can be used as a standalone sealant on suitable surfaces or as a support for existing flat gaskets. It is particularly effective where the connection must be tight, yet still removable for service.

What distinguishes Hylomar M Medium

The most important feature of Hylomar M Medium is that the product does not harden or dry in the traditional way. As a result, it does not create a hard, brittle joint, and components sealed with this mass can be disassembled more easily during maintenance.

Medium is an intermediate variant in the Hylomar M Light / Medium / Heavy family. For the Medium version, the manufacturer states a film thickness of 0.03 mm, a maximum surface roughness of 3.0 µm, and a yield of 1.36 m² from an 80 ml container.

This makes it a practical choice for many typical machined surfaces where a controlled, thin sealing layer is required. ?

When to choose Hylomar M Medium

Choose Hylomar M Medium when you need to seal a joint exposed to oil, fuel, water, water-glycol fluid, air, or gases, and at the same time want to retain the possibility of later disassembly. This is a good choice for service connections, covers, pumps, oil pans, and threads that may require periodic inspection.

How to use Hylomar M Medium

The connecting surfaces should be clean and dry. Apply a thin, even layer of the product to both surfaces, and then allow the solvent to evaporate. After this, the components can be assembled.

In some connections, the manufacturer indicates that the components can be retightened after a short time, as the compound may settle under load.

During disassembly, product residue can be removed from the disassembled components using a Hylomar cleaning agent recommended by the manufacturer. ?

What to look for before use

Hylomar M Medium contains acetone and is highly flammable before the solvent evaporates. During application, work away from ignition sources, ensure ventilation, and use protective measures in accordance with the safety data sheet.

This is not a construction compound or adhesive for permanently joining elements.

Does Hylomar M Medium harden after application?

No. After the solvent evaporates, it remains as a sealing layer, which enables subsequent disassembly of the elements.

Is Hylomar M Medium suitable for threads?

Can Hylomar M Medium be used with a ready-made flat gasket?

Yes. The product can be used as a supporting agent for the function of a ready-made gasket or as a sealing mass on appropriate connection surfaces.

What is the Medium version best suited for?

The Medium version is indicated by the manufacturer, among other things. for water and oil pumps, inspection covers, cylinder heads, oil pans, and most machined surfaces.

Is Hylomar M Medium resistant to oil and fuel?

Yes. The product is resistant to a wide range of media, including oils, fuels, gasoline, kerosene, water, water/glycol mixtures, and selected technical media used in machine systems.

Do the components need to be assembled immediately after application?

No. After applying a thin layer and evaporating the solvent, immediate assembly is not required, as the product does not harden and remains flexible in the joint.

What to avoid when working with Hylomar M Medium?

Avoid working near ignition sources, open flames, and poor ventilation. The product contains acetone and is classified as highly flammable, therefore, the rules for working with flammable liquids must be followed during application.
